Oklahoma City VA New Parking Garage

CUSTOMER: Department of Veterans Affairs

Oklahoma City VA Medical Center, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

ADVON has been entrusted with the multi-phase construction of a new, state-of-the-art parking structure at the Oklahoma City VA Medical Center. This project is a critical infrastructure upgrade, requiring precise logistical coordination to maintain campus operations while significantly expanding the facility’s parking capacity.

Phase I: Site Preparation & Utility Realignment: The project begins with a complex civil and site-prep phase designed to minimize disruption to Veteran access:

  • Strategic Phasing: Prior to major demolition, the northwest parking area will be reconfigured and optimized to offset displaced parking stalls.
  • Solar Decommissioning: Systematic demolition of the existing solar array and its reinforced foundation systems.
  • Infrastructure Relocation: Extensive rerouting of critical underground utilities. This involves close-tolerance coordination with local utility providers and VA Contracting Officer Representatives (COR) to ensure zero downtime for medical center operations.

Structural Engineering & Construction: The garage features a hybrid structural design engineered for durability and rapid assembly:

  • Pre-Cast Systems: Utilizing high-quality pre-cast concrete as the primary structural element for efficiency and longevity.
  • Hybrid Framework: Integrating cast-in-place concrete and structural steel to accommodate specialized architectural requirements and load-bearing demands

Integrated Building Systems: The facility is a fully integrated structure, featuring modern systems designed for safety, ease of use, and sustainability:

  • MEP & Life Safety: Full installation of advanced mechanical systems, electrical power distribution, high-efficiency lighting, and comprehensive fire protection systems.
  • Wayfinding & Accessibility: Professional architectural finishes paired with intuitive wayfinding systems to enhance the patient and visitor experience.
  • Site Development: Final regrading and the installation of new site utility infrastructure to ensure proper drainage and long-term site stability.
