Gainesville VA Expand Vertical Parking Garage 2
CUSTOMER: Department of Veterans Affairs
Malcom Randall VA Medical Center, Gainesville, Florida
The Department of Veterans Affairs has awarded ADVON Construction the contract for the vertical expansion and modernization of the Independence Parking Garage at the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center in Gainesville, Florida. This complex structural project is designed to significantly increase parking capacity and improve campus-wide traffic flow for Veterans and medical staff.
Structural & Vertical Expansion: The core of the project involves the vertical addition of three new tiers—Levels 3, 4, and 5—onto the existing Independence structure. To create a cohesive and efficient parking network, ADVON is engineering and constructing new elevated driveways that physically bridge the Independence and Freedom garages, allowing for seamless vehicle transitions between the two facilities.
Comprehensive System Upgrades: Beyond the structural steel and concrete, this multi-disciplinary project includes extensive infrastructure enhancements:
- Civil & Site Work: Modifying and adding new asphalt layouts to optimize entry and exit points.
- Vertical Transportation: Integrating new elevator systems and modernizing existing units to accommodate the increased floor count.
- MEP Systems: Comprehensive upgrades to mechanical and electrical systems, including high-efficiency LED lighting, advanced drainage solutions, and integrated security components.
- Structural Reinforcement: Precision modification of the existing framework to support the added load of the new levels while meeting stringent safety standards.
